What makes GOOD teacher GREAT

A great teacher loves to teach and to learn. Influence is very important for teachers. In teaching the goal is teachers wanted to be heard, they wanted to be valued, when they help students and what teachers give them, share with them. There are two different levels of influence.

  1. If you are wanting to make an impact in the world you got to have influence, if you have good teaching ability you have got to influence the decisions of the students because you are connecting their emotional needs and their logical needs you are connecting and building strong relation with your students and you are influencing them to see in depth of their decision.
  2. Parenting is also influence, if you want to have an impact you want to teach or help or raise up great kids it’s all done through influence, through great example.

If you want to be a great teacher leader you can be like a dictator and like demands things to people. Teacher influence world for their good and teachers influence people perfectly. A teacher has to be a person who inspires people to get motivated so that they can become problem solvers and that changes the role of teacher from being an authority figure to being a facilitator, the teachers are agent of change. One of the most exciting things about being teacher is when you are working with students and you are sharing your passion or your excitement what we are learning about and students are kind of sitting there and there is lot of confusion and then all of the sudden that all makes sense and you can see in their eyes, see the excitement of students get it.

How to influence without authority

When you don’t have any authority, first you should have proper information on what is the difference between manipulation and influence?

Being a manipulator is not going to bring you what you want in life? It’s not going to bring you happiness.

Influence when we have a purpose of serving people making the world a better place. Influencing the world for good.

If you don’t have authority then when you talk to somebody, you don’t have any credibility. They don’t have any reason to believe you or to follow you, so why don’t you have any authority? Have you just not had enough time to prove yourself yet?

The biggest way that I found to build my influence is to build the track record of success over time, it takes time, and it took me a lot of time.

The second way of influence is to take action, if people are listening to you they are implementing it? Until they actually take action on.

You have to get authority by Confidence in yourself and success will automatically boast your confidence. Something that I want to emphasize here though is it will take time believe in yourself, and go forward and get to the point at the right place. Where people look at you, they follow your advice.

Secretes from the science of influencing people

When making a decision it would be nice to think that people consider all the available information in order to guide their thinking but the reality is very often different, in the increasingly overloaded lives we lead, more than ever, we need shortcuts or rules of thumb to guide our decision-making.

According to the some sources and researches I would be able to find six of these shortcuts.

  1. Reciprocity

People are obliged to give back to others the form of behavior, gift or service that they have received first.

  • Scarcity

People want more of those things they can have less of. If they choose your products and services you will also need to point out what is unique about your proposition and what they stand to lose if they fail to consider your proposal.

  • Authority

The idea that people follow the credible, knowledgeable experts. It is important to signal others, what makes you credible, knowledgeable authority before you make your influence attempt.

  • Consistency

Consistency is activated by looking for and asking for small initial commitment that can be made. The detective for influence looks for voluntary, active and public commitments.

  • Liking

Influencing someone tells us that we like people who like similar to us, we like people who pay us compliments, and we like people who cooperate with us toward mutual goals.

  • Consensus

People will look to the actions and behaviors of other to determine their own.

Understanding these shortcuts and employing them in ethical manner, can significantly increase the chances that someone will be persuaded by your request.

The art of influencing other people

There are two powers of personality that anyone can develop that will increase your charisma and ability to influence others the first of these powers is the

  1. Power of purpose:

Men and women with charisma and personal magnetism almost invariably have a clear vision of who they are, where they are going? and what they are trying to achieve? and you can develop as well, leaders in sales and management have a vision of what they are trying to create and what why they are doing they are focused on accomplishing some great purpose with their lives and their work they are decisive about every aspect of their lives they know exactly what they want and what they have to do to get it: they plan their work then they work their plan you can increase your charisma and the magnetism of your personality by setting clear goals for yourself working on your plans with discipline and determination the more likely people will be to attribute other positive qualities to you.

  • Power to develop charisma:

It is self-confidence, men and women with charisma have an intense belief in themselves and what they are doing they are usually calm and cool and composed about themselves and their work your level of self-confidence is often demonstrate in your courage, in your willingness to do whatever is necessary to achieve a purpose that you believe in.

People are naturally attracted to the people who are confident and those who have unshakable belief in their ability to rise above circumstances to attain their goals.

How to stop unwanted influence by others

It is so easy when you are at beginner level of something to feel that the people who have been doing it for five or ten years are just super human and they have got something special that you don’t have you know you feel like you are trying so hard to compete because, you are comparing yourself with them.

Comparing yourself to all other people who are out there doing their own work just put that aside, just kind of wash away those comparisons and just focus on yourself.

I truly believe that we have all the answers that we need for our own life journey deep down somewhere within ourselves. Everybody is own their own journey so to compare yourself with what someone else has going on is really damaging yourself and its not going to be effective it’s not going to make you feel great.

We all have our own strengths, stick to what you really good at, what you are confident in and really build upon those skills because there is no one way to be successful.

For example: think of having yourself be your cheerleader in your own mind it’s kind of fun picture your future self-create. Create a little avatar of what future care you will look like, think you are smart and you are capable of doing everything own your own.

Instead of always rushing out to look at what other people think you should do and ask for advice sometimes. Trusting google and trusting other people more than you are trusting your own inner voice, figure out the solutions to the problems in your life meditate on that.

The Power of Influence Doesn’t Come From Leadership Position

When it comes to adult life and being an educationist and be aware of what influence we have and particularly because, that influence and the way that you choose to control the dynamics can actually affect the outcome of any scenario that you might be in.

How you can show up with full powerful confidence and actually persuade and influence others in any environment?

I will be talking about two important super powerful simple subtle things. That can give you tremendous amount of influence at work and anywhere in your life. You can be powerful force for influence because, teachers are leaders and leadership does ‘not only come from position. There are people who are in good leadership positions but are not good leaders and probably we all have somewhere experience that vice versa some people are not in leadership positions but they are amazing in leading they tend to make decisions they tend to be asked for their advice and guidance they tend to speak up and share their ideas and people pay attention to it so, it’s really not about the position as much as how you show up and so that’s the first thing if you want to start having more influence in the work place you got to show up that means you have to put your ideas forward, you have to  able to talk to people whether it’s a boss or colleague or in a meeting or in a small group or approaching someone one-on-one with a question or a concern that you have, you have to be able to put yourself  out and speak up in that way and if there is major consonant confidence issues that are blocking that

For Example: They don’t want to hear, they don’t like me, I am not good enough, no one cares, and I am scared of confrontation.

In this case you’re severely limiting yourself and it’s going to be really hard to influence or persuade people.

  1. How you approach someone and how you frame what you are going to say, makes a huge difference?
  2. Start asking questions to peers, supervisor etc.
  3. Face your fears
  4. Speak in assertive way
  5. Frame your whole idea
  • Second powerful element is concern. What does concerns means? It means danger there is some danger and what grabs people’s attention more than danger, it’s the same thing when you are influencing people it’s like I have some concerns that’s enough to get people’s attention.

Blogs are not boring like articles.

This image better reflect my thoughts.

Blog is the simple discussion or information, written in informal or conversational style. But what I think in the past was that blog is a type of article in which you have to explain the topic of your choice. In the ICT class, my teacher asked us to write a blog on different topics of our choice that are covered in the course and when I write my first blog I explain the topic as an article I didn’t share my thoughts in it or experience or my learning. But later on I got to know that blogs are written in informal way in which you share your thoughts or idea or experiences on certain topics and easily share with the world free of cost. There are several forums where you can easily publish your blogs. I think it is good practice of writing and brainstorming you can write without any fear and can share with others. We can add images, articles, power point presentations, videos and many more artifacts to better convey our thoughts. It is our choice whether you want to publicly post it or share with some people. I am not a good writer but after writing 5 blogs for an ICT assignment was a fun and it increased my knowledge also it enhanced my understanding and brainstorming skills.

MS Excel save my time.

Microsoft excel is one of the application from the Microsoft office. I always thinks that MS excel is a spreadsheet program that is only used for filling the data in rows and columns and that seems very boring to me instead of using MS excel I use MS word where, first I draw table, then fill the data, then for the percentages I calculate them manually and fill them in the respected rows of the tables and that takes a lot of my time. I always thought that MS excel is just a waste application of the Microsoft office. But recently, in my ICT class I learnt MS excel in detail and I am amused by its usage. We can add header and footer in the document, it allows us to save our data in protection by using password to avoid any stealing or coping of important data. We can also create different variety of charts, graphs etc: that helps us to easily analyze our data. And the very important thing is if you edit your data in MS excel it automatically edits the results. Now on wards, instead of using MS word for tables and spreadsheets, I will use MS excel for my office work so that I can save my time and also I get the better and effective results.

Collaborative learning VS. Group work

This image clears the difference between group and collaborative learning.

Isn’t collaborative learning and group work are same? YES/NO. Bunch of students or learners work together to resolve a problem or create a product or complete a task or learn something together is known as collaborative learning. And what about group work? Number of individuals work together on set tasks to enhance the total output of the activity. So, what’s the difference between them? The major difference between them is collaborative learning focuses on both process and final output. But group work only focuses on the final product. Furthermore, In Collaborative learning all the participants take part in discussion, help each other in understanding, encourage each other, listen and respond each other, ask for the ideas from each member, improve social skills and improve relationships with others in the class and collaborating with others individuals will help learner to identify his/her strengths, weakness and also enhances self-awareness. However, in group work, learners talk over each other, learners just compete to get reward or good grades, most of the team members rest and one or two of the group member does all the work. In conclusion, collaborative learning is more effective because, given task is divided between all team members so that every member participate and pour their ideas into the activity.

Benefits of Blended learning:

This picture convey all my message and thoughts about blended learning.

Blended learning is an advance approach in education, in which students get education via online and electronic media along with traditional (face to face) teaching. In my opinion Blended learning approach is flexible and saves time of both teacher and student. For example, Electronic media enable students to learn or access material from anywhere, anytime and it is more flexible and effective in terms of interaction between the students and their teachers by using emails, and different online forums for discussions. Moreover, electronic learning also improves the quality of teaching and learning because it also supports the traditional teaching approaches. Furthermore, blended learning is an effective for both teachers and students. It engages students with the teachers and it provides better information and proper feedback on the work and in this way learner evaluate their own learning and teachers tailor their teaching and learner focus on deeper learning. In conclusion, blended learning provides flexibility and allows students to access internet resources to learn at their own pace and this can help learners to speed up their learning. It also prepares students for the future by enhancing their research skills, self-learning, Self-engagement, Helps to develop a ‘self-driving force’, Better decision making, offers a larger sense of responsibility, last but not the least  enhance their skills in Computer literacy.
