The Role of ICT in Education

ICT stand for information and communication technologies. And In my view, ICT is a set of various technological methods used to communicate, create and manage the information. But why ICT is important in education? In my point of view, ICT motivates the students to learn in different ways. I believe, in this era, Information and communication technology is playing an important role in education primarily, in the procedure of incorporating the technology into the educational activities to impart knowledge or skills. It is the most effective way which increases the individual’s knowledge and skills and also help in accomplishing learning tasks. For example, now a days most of the parents have no control over their children, so children have many opportunity to misuse the internet. They waste time by playing online games or browsing negative or un useful sites etc. Through this students do not concentrate on their studies and even some of them don’t want to attend the classes. In this situation, ICT plays an important role in educational institutions by facilitating the students with such educational games or activities which are adjusted by their teachers keeping in view their interest and it enhances interest in learning rather than visiting negative sites. Besides that, with the help of teacher facilitation, students can create or write something like stories, experiences, articles and many more and share to the world in online forums like word press. But there are also disadvantages of ICT like lack of security and privacy, and heavy Reliance on technology – for example, people don’t bother to read the books. Why read the books if there is so much material and information available easily on internet. Like everything, ICT has both advantages and disadvantages and we should be mindful in its use.
